The Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit is from October through April when the weather is cooler and comfortable. The view from top is stunning at sunset. Which is most beautiful time to be there.

Exploring Al-Izam Mosque

When you visit Musa Bin Nusayr Castle. You should also visit the historic al-Izam Mosque. Which is located nearby on the road to Hegra.

Al-Izam Mosque dates back to the time of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. According to history, Prophet Muhammad marked the Qiblah (the direction of prayer) of this mosque during his journey to the Battle of Tabuk in 630 CE.

The mosque was recently restored in 2022 as part of the Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Project for the Development of Historical Mosques. It now covers an area of 773.34 square meters and can accommodate 580 worshippers.

Making the Most of Your Visit

You can visit both the castle and mosque together since they are in same area. Spend the morning climbing the castle and enjoying the views then visit the mosque in afternoon.
