The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has provided a $10 million grant through the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) to support the delivery of safe and sustainable water to communities affected by conflict in Sudan.
The initiative aims to improve access to clean water, reduce health risks and strengthen resilience among vulnerable populations across the country.
Signing Ceremony Held in Geneva
The grant agreement was signed at headquarters of Kingdom Permanent Mission to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva.
The ceremony took place in presence of Kingdom Permanent Representative, Ambassador Abdulmohsen bin Khothaila, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s continued commitment to international humanitarian and development efforts.
Rehabilitation of Major Water Networks
According to announcement the grant will support the rehabilitation and expansion of Sudan main water networks.
Key components of project include:
- Improving the Nile water supply system in Khartoum
- Upgrading water operations to rely on solar power
- Enhancing technical and operational capacity
- Engaging local communities to ensure long term sustainability
These measures are design to strengthen water infrastructure while reducing reliance on traditional energy sources.

The initiative seeks to:
