Expand Public Transport Network:
JEDDAH: The Saudi city of Jeddah has begun the next phase of its public transport system. They have also added 91 new buses, three that operate on electricity. There are also six new bus routes to aid people in moving around the city more easily. The new buses are supposed to be more user-friendly for disabled passengers.
The Jeddah Transport Company and the Saudi Public Transport Company collaborated on implementing these changes. They want to make travel smarter, according to Youssef bin Nasser Al-Sayegh, CEO of JTC. They are going to leverage new technology to monitor bus locations and improve the service. That means buses will arrive on time, and there are fewer stops that aren’t necessary.
Introducing New Buses and Routes
There are many fun features with this new transportation. Here is what is new:
- 91 new buses, three of them fully electric models

- Buses run from 5:30 a.m to 11:30 p.m everyday.
- Tickets priced at SAR 3.45 per trip
- Daily, weekly and monthly subscriptions are also offered
- All buses are accessible for people with disabilities
Passengers can now purchase tickets and plan their trips using the Jeddah Buses mobile application.
Marine Taxi Service
Looking to the Future: Al-Sayegh told us some exciting developments for Jeddah’s transport. They hope to create additional bus routes, and they’ve even talked about bringing in marine taxis! It will be an imperative factor in reducing traffic through the Red Sea.
The marine taxi is already in operation, linking sites such as the Jeddah Yacht Club and Historic Jeddah. They hope to have additional routes soon. “We intend to establish 20 water taxi stations with a capacity to accommodate 29,000 passengers per day,” Al-Sayegh said.
A Better Journey for Everyone
The new project is not all about the falling from one place to the next. It’s about improving transportation for both residents and visitors. Jeddah is looking to upgrade its transportation systems and have the whole city connected.
Control room The control room was opened to visitors during the launch event. They watched live video feeds from bus stations and marine taxis, to see how everything is monitored and controlled in real time.
Conclusion:
The new public transportation system in Jeddah is a wonderful achievement. The additional buses, smart technology and Marine Taxis will enhance the ease of getting around city for everyone.
