If you are an employee in Saudi Arabia. Understanding the end of service benefits (gratuity) is important. Whether you are leaving the job voluntarily or your contract has ended. You may be entitled to receive compensation based on your salary and years of service.
The Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) provides an easy-to-use online calculator to help employees estimate their end-of-service gratuity.
Let’s get started
What Are End of Service Benefits
End of service benefits also known as gratuity. Payments are made to employees when their employment contract ends. The amount depends on :
- Monthly salary
- Type of employment contract
- Reason for termination
- Total length of service (years, months, days)
These benefits help ensure that employees get fair compensation after their time with a company.

How Is End of Service Gratuity Calculated
The calculation follows the rules outlined in the Saudi Labor Law :
- For the first 5 years of service:
➤ You receive ½ month salary for each year worked. - For each additional year beyond 5 years:
➤ You receive 1 full month’s salary per year.
Note : The reason for termination affects the total amount:
- If you resign voluntarily, you may receive partial gratuity depending on your years of service.
- If the employer terminates the contract, you’re generally entitled to full gratuity .
Example:
If you worked for 8 years and earned SAR 10,000/month , your calculation would be:
- First 5 years: ½ × 10,000 × 5 = SAR 25,000
- Next 3 years: 1 × 10,000 × 3 = SAR 30,000
- Total Gratuity : SAR 55,000
