RIYADH: From February 15 to 17, the Royal Institute of Traditional Arts, or Wrth, in collaboration with Mohammed bin Salman Nonprofit City, will open the Wrth Market in Misk City, Riyadh.
The project is a component of Wrth’s endeavors to help craftsmen and businesses, promote traditional Saudi arts, and incorporate handcrafted goods into modern lifestyles as Ramadan draws near.
The market aims to highlight the cultural and aesthetic value of traditional arts associated with Ramadan products, presenting them as integral to daily life, family and society, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Wednesday.
This interactive platform will enable artisans and entrepreneurs to showcase their work, share their stories and present their craft experiences, enriching the cultural landscape and raising public awareness of traditional arts.
A diverse range of crafts, such as metalworking, gypsum crafts, woodworking, jewelry, ceramics, leatherwork, Sadu weaving, and palm frond weaving, will be represented by the 25 entrepreneurs at the market.
Along with promoting the sustainability of traditional crafts and the financial empowerment of their practitioners, booths are designed with an identity inspired by Ramadan, reflecting authenticity and innovation.
Leading the nation in promoting cultural identity and enhancing Saudi traditional arts both domestically and abroad is Wrth. It seeks to support national talent, honor eminent practitioners, preserve cultural heritage, and promote the study, practice, and advancement of traditional arts.
