The History and Founding of Al-Qadsiah Club
Al-Qadsiah’s story begins long before its official start in 1967. In 1935, young workers in Al-Khobar who worked for Aramco formed a team called Al-Ahly. That team became Al-Hilal in 1943. A new rival, Al-Nahda, appeared in 1946. Al-Nahda later shifted to the name Al-Ittihad.
More small clubs formed during the 1940s. Al-Shabab. Al-Ahly. Al-Najah. Al-Sharar. Al-Nahda. These groups shaped the first wave of football in the Eastern Province.
Mergers started later. Al-Shabab, Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal joined to become Al-Shoulla. Al-Ahly, Al-Nahda and Al-Najah became Al-Wahda. Both merged in 1967 under one name. Al-Qadsiah Club.
Why the Name Al-Qadsiah?
The name refers to the Battle of Al-Qadsiah in Iraq. The site sits roughly 65 kilometers from Kufa in the area known today as Al-Diwaniyah. The club chose the name to honor the history linked to the region.
